OGA was established in December 1975 by Mr Jim Searle, as an agency representing the Japanese architectural glass manufacturers, Asahi Glass and Nippon Sheet Glass. Jim’s son, Neil, joined the company in 1977 and whilst assisting with the continued importation of flat glass, initiated the importation of glass processing machinery from several European manufacturers. Neil and his wife, Pamella, took over the company on Jim’s retirement in 1980.
For many years OGA remained a respected importer of architectural glass from several differing suppliers throughout South East Asia and China. However in October 2007, OGA chose to suspend the glass importation business in response to artificially low domestic market prices and the ever increasing costs of landing and delivering containers to its Australian customers.
OGA continues to be one of the largest importers of glass processing and handling machinery from some of the world’s best European manufacturers such as the Glaston Group processing company, Bavelloni and the Glaston Group specialist heat treatment company, Tamglass.
Other respected European manufacturers include For.El. double glazing, arrissing, vertical laminated cutting and laminated glass manufacturing systems, STA centrifuge water treatment systems, Neptun glass washing machines, Mistrello glass racking and loading systems, as well as Deway edging machinery from China.
